Hannah and Ashley's school does a recipe contest for the 1-5 grades. A student can enter an entree, bread or dessert recipe. A winner is selected for each category and then there's a "Chef of the Day" lunch where each of the winner's recipe is featured.
The school had an assembly and it was announced that Hannah's White Chicken Chili recipe she submitted won the entree category. Wahoo! A special thanks to Traci for the recipe. It's one of our family favorites and Hannah picked this recipe to enter.
On Friday, March 4, Hannah and the two other winners were able to invite family and friends to come and eat lunch with them. They were also able to be the first ones to eat lunch at 11 a.m. because once the students came for lunch these three girls sat in the hall and autographed recipes.
Along with signing autographs, Hannah was given a "real" chef's hat, a kids cookbook and a spiral bound copy of all the recipes that were entered.
Me, Ashley, Dave and Grandma Peterson came and ate lunch with Hannah, which might I say.....this was the best school lunch I've eaten at the school! It consisted of White Chicken Chili, garlic bread, and chocolate cake. It really was yummy!
