Rain or Snow.....which one would you prefer?

I know I have lots of other things that I should blog about especially to try and keep things in "order" but I had to post these pictures today.

We were suppose to have a snow storm start yesterday afternoon and continue through today at 5 p.m.  The storm was suppose to dump 4-8" of snow in the valley.  Well, we got a bit of snow but it warmed so much that it dumped rain.....and in Mendon it dumped A LOT of rain.

Dave walked into the kitchen this morning and looked into the back yard.  He says, "Is that snow on the grass or water?  That's water!"  He then went and opened the front door to look at the front yard.  He comes back very somber and says, "You might want to look out front.  We have our very own swimming pool."

I didn't know what to expect.  We have lived in Mendon for 3 1/2 years and each year it's a new experience.  As Dave was walking out to get in his car, I walked outside with him.....and what do my eyes see?  A RIVER RUNNING THROUGH MY FRONT YARD.  It was WAY more that I had even imagined in my mind.  We even had the full waterfall sound effects as the water was running over the driveway and into the ditch on the other side.  I was surprised at how loud the sound was.  Incredible.

I had to grab the camera to take some pictures.  I would like to say we'll never see this again but like I said, it's always an adventure in Mendon.  The pictures do not do it justice.  You really had to be there to see it but hopefully you can get an idea of what it looked like.

The girls and I took the lower road to head into Logan and "washed the car" as the girls said as they were laughing as I went a bit fast through the puddle on the road and splashed water up over the van.  I talked to Dave and when he left he went up into "town" in Mendon and he said the water was everywhere.  He's e-mailing me pictures he took with his phone so I'll update the blog when I get them.

For now.....here's the pictures I took of the front of our house.  I'd have to say....it might have been better to have had the 8" of snow instead of the 8" of rain.  With the ground frozen the water has no where to go.  It's suppose to rain more today through Friday.  Pray with us that our sump pumps are working!  If you remember......we have three of them!

We're parked across the street looking at our house for these pictures.

Hannah took this one from our driveway looking at the "waterfall" going into the ditch.

Back across the street looking at the waterfall.

Here's a look at the ditch in front of our field.  It's plum full!

As we were driving up the road, I thought this was snow blocking the water flow down the ditch.  Nope!  It's Indian Soap (that's what we called it when I was little) or you might say foam.
