Tomorrow starts the third session of swim lessons for the girls. Four weeks down and two more to go. Yes, I'm crazy but what an amazing skill for the girls to have. Lessons run Monday through Thursday from 4-4:40 p.m. I let the girls stay after and play in the outside pools until 5 o'clock when they clear the pool for the "5 minute bathroom break". This seems to keep them satisfied.
Bridger and Sam have been doing swim lessons with the girls for the last two weeks. I think the girls have had fun having cousins with them to play with after. The last two Mondays we have stayed after until 6 p.m. and played in the pool as families and then gone up Logan Canyon to a park across from 1st Dam and had a picnic and a short family home evening lesson.
Where Sam and Bridger are not doing the next session of swim lessons with us, Hannah asked if we were staying after to swim and they were just meeting us at the park. I guess this lets me know that she has been enjoying the "family time". We'll try to make it a point to at least do this one more time.
Dave and the rest of the family that went hiking to to Wind Rivers survived and seem to have had a good time. The girls and I also survived at home with Dave gone. We had a lot of fun and thanks to Grandma, the girls and I were able to go see "A Night at the Museum 2".
A couple of Sundays ago, the girls and I made rolls for dinner. We learned one important lesson.....one cup of flour and #10 speed on the mixer DO NOT MIX......see pictures below:
Hannah put in the cup of flour and Ashley turned on the mixer.....yea, that button just slid clear over to 10 rather quickly! We sure got a good laugh!!Hannah seems to be enjoying her summer. I think on some days she gets a bit bored at Traci's when none of the "bigger" kids are there. She is being a big help this summer playing and helping with Ashley and Nicole. Especially at church on Sundays when it's me and the girls against the world while Dave is on patrol.
Hannah has figured out how to give Nicole piggy back rides. Aren't they cute?!?
Some of you have and some of you haven't heard the story of our trampoline. For those of you that haven't, here it is:
Dave and I attended the benefit dinner and auction for the Children's Justice Center on April 24. At the auction, we bid and purchased a trampoline for the girls. If you remember in my previous posts, we gave the girls a trampoline for their birthdays. It was an awesome trampoline and the girls LOVED it.
We had a very unusual spring/early summer this year with lots of rain storms. On the night of June 2, Dave was at Sky View High School's graduation and the girls and I were at home. A VERY windy storm came through Mendon and knocked out our power. I ran outside to get my cell phone from the van and ended up having to manually pull down our garage door because the wind was coming directly from the south and things were starting to fly around the garage.
I got the door down and came in the house to find Hannah hysterically crying as she was looking out our windows. I started asking her what was wrong and she pointed out the window and said, "Our trampoline! It's blowing away!" As I looked out the window, I could see our trampoline was three fields to the north and another trampoline was blowing in the wind and it was flinging just like a leaf.
All I could see were the dollar signs crumpled three fields up but children have a way of putting things in perspective for you. As tears were streaming down Hannah's face, she told me that she knew we had spent alot of money on the trampoline and she would give me all of her money in her piggy bank so we could buy a new one. Ashley then turned and said she would give us her money too. Now I had tears in my eyes too as I realized the act of selflessness my two girls were showing.
Needless to say, the trampoline was a total loss. The only salvageable part was the mat. We are now in the process of saving for another trampoline next year. However, since the loss of the trampoline, Dave has brought home a small 4-wheeler for the girls. I guess he's thinking that this one won't blow away. It gets stored in the garage. It's too small for the kids of one of his co-workers/friends so it has now found a home with us and can I just say the girls LOVE this too!

The golf cart has been out of commission for awhile. Dave did some research online and found the parts needed to fix it and replaced them. Here's Dave and the girls heading out to get the mail after the 4th of July parade in Hyrum.
Dave headed off for another hiking trip last week. This was the High Adventure hike with the Young Men and leaders in our ward. They went to the Uintah's this time to climb King's peak (the highest mountain in Utah). He took the llamas and the girls were in heaven that they were in Mendon for a night. This goes to show that we really need to get our girls a pet. Hannah walked one up the road and back, Ashley was a little scared at first and Nicole thought they were "goggies" (doggies).

My little farmer! Hannah actually went with Dave to pick up the llamas in Nibley and bring them to Mendon. She was in llama HEAVEN!
Ashely just lovin' life!Hannah, Ashley, and I kept up the tradition with Dave gone again and we went to the movie theater again and this time we saw "Ice Age 3". Thanks Grandma for keeping Nicole!
What does this week bring? Session #3 of swim lessons, a pampered chef party at my house on Wednesday, Hannah riding in the 24th of July parade in Logan on Friday, and the Mendon festivities on Saturday to celebrate the 24th and then the fireworks that night! We have learned that celebrations start Saturday morning at 7 a.m. and finish at 10 p.m. with the fireworks. We're going to break somewhere along the way and have family over for a cookout. Should make for a great party!
